222. Isaac6 Ramsdell (James5, Timothy4, Isaac3, Isaac2, John1) was born about 1775.

He married Sally McDaniel. [Maiden name of Sally comes from DAR record #84800] Sally was born about 1775. Sally died before 1830. Little has been discovered about where Isaac was born or who his parents were. On May 4, 1795 he was living on Sewards Neck, Eastport (now Lubec), Washington County, Maine. He lived on Lot #9, between John Cooper and James Ramsdell. Also, in the 1811 Lubec Census, he is still living next to James. Looking closer at James, neighbor to Isaac, in his pension request file, we find the following: "In 1843 Martha Morang, who married Alexander Morang, was a resident of Lubec, Maine, aged 75 years. She was present at the marriage of her husband's sister, Juda Morang to James Ramsdell. She said that Isaac Ramsdell of Campobello, NB, was the only other person living who was present at the wedding.". Also, Isaac and Sally named their 5th child Merriby, probably after Isaac's mother, Merribah (Johnson) Ramsdell who was referred to as "Merriby" in Lynn (Mass.) vital records. In the DAR record #84800 of Mrs. Solomon Allen which was submitted in 1910, the lineage of Isaac is traced to Isaac (1745-1780) and Hannah (Dorman) Ramsdell of Acton, Mass., and who was killed in New York during the Revolution in 1780. It contains the following story about Isaac of Lubec: "When Issac was about two years old {ca 1777-1780}, he went to live with his grandparents at or near Falmouth, Maine. When he was 19 years of age, he came to Washington County, Maine and soon after married Sally McDaniel. Thier first child was Isaac 3rd, born 1798. He married Ms. Anna Phinney. She b. 1808...". This story does not align very well with the facts that we do know. Namely, that Isaac was living in Eastport in the 1790 census. If he went to live with his grandparents when he was two years old, he would have been only ten years old in the 1790 census and fifteen when he appeared on the 1795 map of Eastport. The reference to his attendance at the wedding of James, his close proximity to the same in census and land records, and the naming of his fifth child would be reduced to mere coincidence.
