"The sad and rather mysterious story of Reverant [sic] Tom Ramsdell's parents may never be entirely revealed. His father grew up as an orphan from age six following the death of his father Colonel John Ramsdell at the hands of "Bush-whackers" on 23 May 1807. At age nineteen Thomas Ramsdell courted and married Cynthia Crary, the 17 year old daughter of Captain (Leftenent)[sic] Elias Crary of Wallingford, Vermont. By Christmas day 1835 Cynthia Crary was dead; Thomas Ramsdell had dissapeared into revolutionary western Canada; and their son, Thomas Manley Ramsdell, was apprenticed o a joiner."

This comes from Delmar Ramsdell of Oregon:

"Thomas was separated from his family at Potsdam, New York in 1828. He was known to be in Ohio about 1832. He participated in the Canadian McKenzie Revolt of 1838-39, and a bounty was offered for his arrest, which was confirmed in Ottowa, Canada."

child 459 i. Charles7 Ramsdell. Charles died young.

child 460 ii. Libby Cordelia Ramsdell.
