4536. Samuel13 Rice (Edmund14) was born in Berkhampsted, Hertsfordshire, England 1634. Samuel died 25 February 1685 in Marlborough, Middlesex, Massachusetts, at 50 years of age.

Samuel married November 8, 1655, Elizabeth King. She died 1667, and he married 2d, Sept, 1668, Mary Brown. She died in Concord, where they had probably retired during the Indian war, 1675, and he married 3d, Sarah, widow of James Hosmer, of Concord, December 13, 1676. The births of his four eldest children are recorded in Sudbury, the births of the others are found in Marlborough, except the youngest, which is in Concord. He probably came to Marlborough about 1662, and died there, February 25, 1685, aged about 51.

child 4537 i. Elizabeth12 Rice was born in Sudbury, Middlesex, Massachusetts 26 October 1656. Elizabeth died 22 December 1727 at 71 years of age. She married Peter Haynes 2 January 1677 in Sudbury, Middlesex Co., Massachusetts. Peter was born 7 April 1654 in Sudbury, Middl., MA. Peter was the son of John Haynes_(Haines) and Dorothy Noyes. Peter died 6 January 1748/1749 at 94 years of age.

child 4538 ii. Hannah Rice was born in Sudbury, Middlesex, Massachusetts 1658. Hannah died 9 April 1747 in Concord, Middlesex Co., Massachusetts, at 88 years of age. She married Jonathan Hubbard 15 January 1681 in Concord, Middlesex, Massachusets. Jonathan was born 3 January 1658 in Wethersfield, N.Havn, CT. Jonathan was the son of John Hubbard and Mary Merriam. Jonathan died 17 July 1728 in Concord, Middlesex Co., Massachusetts, at 70 years of age.

child 4539 iii. Joshua Rice was born in Sudbury, Middlesex, Massachusetts 19 April 1661. Joshua died 23 June 1737 in Marlborough, Middlesex Co., Massachusetts, at 76 years of age. He married three times. He married Mary Hubbard. He married Mary in Marlborough, Middlesex Co., Massachusetts. He married Mary Sawyer.

child 4540 iv. Edmund Rice was born in Sudbury, Middlesex, Massachusetts 1663. Edmund died 1726 at 63 years of age. Married November 15, 1692, Ruth Parker, of Roxbury. He resided in that part of Marlborough which was set off to form the town of Westborough. He had a family of 12 children. Among them were Silas, born 1695, and Timothy, born 1697, who were taken by the Indians, in 1704, and carried captive to Canada. Their brother Nahor, born 1699, was killed at the same time. Silas and Timothy were taken to Canada, where they married Indian wives, and had children by them To Silas they gave the name of Tookanowras, and to Timothy the name of Oughtsorangoughton. The latter became the third of six Chiefs of the Cognawaga tribe. In that capacity he addressed a speech to Colonel, afterwards General, Burgoyne, when employed in an expedition against Canada in the French war, in 1755. Timothy returned to Westboro', September 1740, with an interpreter himself having lost his mother tongue and visited the place, where he was captured, of which he had a clear remembrance, together with the circumstances under which he was taken. Nothing said or done could induce him to return to Westboro', or to civilized life. He returned to Canada, where he and his brother Silas were living in 1790.

child 4541 vi. Samuel Rice King was born in Sudbury, Middlesex, Massachusetts 14 October 1667. Samuel died 4 March 1713 in Sudbury, Middlesex, Massachusetts, at 45 years of age. He married Abigail Clapp 30 October 1693 in Milton, Norfolk, MA.

child 4543 viii. Mary Rice was born in Marlboro, Midlsx., Mass. 6 August 1669. She married Benjamin Rice.

child 4544 ix. Edward Rice was born in Marlborough, MA 20 June 1672. Edward died 20 July 1741 in Marlboro, Mass., at 69 years of age. He married Lydia Fairbanks 25 May 1702 in Sherborn, Middlesex, Massachusetts.

child 4545 x. Abigail Rice was born in Marlboro, Midlsx., Mass. 10 March 1673. She married Palmer Goulding.

child 4546 xi. Mary Rice was born about 1674. Mary died 1675 in Concord, Massachusetts, at 1 year of age.

child 4547 xii. Sarah Rice was born about 1676.

child 4548 xiii. Joseph Rice was born in Concord, Massachusetts 16 May 1678. He married Mary Townsend 25 June 1701 in Boston, Suffolk Co., Massachusetts.
