He married twice. He married Hannah Clark. Hannah was born about 1690 in New London, New London, CT. Hannah died 4 March 1718 in Wallingford, New Haven, CT, at 27 years of age. He married Sarah Mitchell 9 July 1718 in Wallingford, CT.

James Hough and Hannah Clark had the following children:

886 i. Samuel⁹ Hough was born in New London, New London, CT 12 July 1712. Samuel died 26 August 1776 at 64 years of age. He married Mehitabel Royce 7 November 1734 in Wallingford (V), New Haven, Connecticut.

887 ii. Phineas Hough was born in New London, New London, CT 11 April 1714. Phineas died 11 September 1797 at 83 years of age. He married three times. He married Hannah Austin. He married Sarah. He married Lydia.

+ 551 iii. Joseph Hough was born 1717.

888 iv. Hannah Hough was born about 1718.
